What is Physio-Led Pilates?

Physio-led Pilates combines the principles of Pilates with the clinical knowledge and expertise of a Chartered Physiotherapist. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all exercise class, every movement is carefully selected and adapted to suit your individual needs, ability and goals.

Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing persistent pain, improving your posture or simply looking to build strength and flexibility, exercises are progressed at a pace that's safe and appropriate for you.

At KTB Physiotherapy, our APPI-trained Pilates classes focus on improving movement, core strength, balance and confidence while helping to reduce the risk of injury. Every exercise can be modified, making the classes suitable for beginners through to more experienced participants.

Physio-led Pilates may help with:

✓ Back and neck pain

✓ Poor posture

✓ Joint stiffness and reduced mobility

✓ Recovery after injury or surgery

✓ Core strength and balance

✓ Long-term musculoskeletal conditions

✓ Improving flexibility and overall fitness

Unlike a standard fitness class, our focus isn't just exercise, it's helping you move better, feel stronger and stay active for the long term.

Ongoing Progression

Before joining a class, we'll ask you to complete a short health questionnaire so we can understand your medical history, any current injuries or health conditions, and your individual goals.

Most people can join our Pilates classes without a formal physiotherapy assessment. However, if you're recovering from an injury, experiencing persistent pain, have recently had surgery or have a more complex condition, we may recommend a one-to-one physiotherapy assessment first. This helps ensure Pilates is safe, appropriate and tailored to your individual needs.

If you've previously received physiotherapy at KTB Physiotherapy, we'll use our knowledge of your condition to help guide your exercise programme and ensure you get the most from your classes.

Every participant is different. Throughout the class, exercises can be adapted to suit your ability, any injuries or medical conditions, ensuring you can work at a level that's both safe and appropriately challenging.

Each class is led by a Chartered Physiotherapist and follows a structured programme designed to improve strength, flexibility, posture and movement. You'll receive clear demonstrations, ongoing guidance and encouragement throughout the session.

As your strength, confidence and movement improve, your exercises will be progressed to continue challenging you safely. Whether your goal is pain relief, injury prevention or improving your overall fitness, we'll help you continue making steady, long-term progress.
